I devised a simple and easy piano exercise using a broken chord pattern for an adult piano student that immediately helped her to change the way she uses her hands. She has kindly recorded her first session in the hope of helping other adult students.
Place 5 fingers over five white notes. Play fingers 5-3-1 (finger 1 being the thumb) unfolding the notes bottom-middle-top-middle in the left hand and top-middle-bottom-middle in the right hand.
I recommend doing this exercise regularly for a few minutes at the beginning of each practice session as it will help to limber up the fingers and take the tension out of the hands. Greta More
